Hangtown
5/16/2004
The
Blackfoot Honda team came down to the Hangtown National to use this race as a
warm-up and for testing. It was also
great practice for me as well. I've had
a lot of changes going on with team and as well as returning back to the Honda
CR 250 2-stroke. I only had about 7
rides on the 2-stroke and felt like I needed more time on the bike, but my
results tell me that I'm close.
Practice went good! We made only
minor changes to the bike before my Qualifier.
I won my Qualifier on Sunday morning, so I felt ready for the motos.
The
first Moto, I had a mid pack start and on the first lap I got hung up with some
other riders that went down. I had to
remount and get going again. I came around the first lap in about 35th. I rode hard the whole time eventually
finishing in 13th. I felt good about my
performance knowing how far I charged up.
The second Moto, I had a better
start. I came out about 7th. Windham and Reed passed me and after that I
started to charge back through the pack. I made some passes and ended up in
5th. Place. It was a solid ride. My
Blackfoot Honda was working great!!
I feel that my speed and fitness is
excellent, so I 'm ready for the Canadian Nationals. It was good to compete with the top guys in the world in a US
Outdoor National race and in the end only 4 guys (highly paid millionaires)
were faster than me.
I would like to thank Blackfoot
Honda for their support and all the sponsors that help out the team. My next race will be the first Canadian race
on June 12th.
See ya later,
Huffy
