The first race of the Canadian Nationals took place at
Nanaimo, which is on an island not far from Vancouver Canada. There was light rain all day Saturday but
Sunday was beautiful. Practice went
good, and the CR250R Blackfoot Honda was working great.
The first
motto I got off to about a tenth place start.
I was working through the pack trying to make passes when I made a
mistake and went down hard. It
took awhile for me to get back up. My bars were bent and the whole front end
was twisted. Later that same lap
another rider went down who needed medical attention. They had to red flag the race to get the ambulance to him. So I got a break by them stopping the
race. They lined everyone back up and
restarted the race. I got off to a
better start. My ribs were really sore
from the crash. I ended up finishing in
fourth place.
The second motto I had a good start,
starting in about third. I rode well
considering my ribs were bruised. I
eventually worked my way into second and stayed right there. I wanted to come out and win the first race,
but as you have read I had some problems.
I should be near 100% for the second race.
Talk to everyone soon.
