Round 7 of the 250cc Canadian
Nationals
Deschambault, QC
The weather was nice but we did have
some occasionally rain. The temperature
would get much more hot when the sun would come out as is the case in most
places but it seemed to effect Deschambault a little more. This is one of the better tracks on the
circuit. It's sandy and high speed. The
track is also very rough, and it took awhile to set up the bike. I had a great race here last year eventually
finishing second to John Dowd.
The first moto I had a bad start,
coming out in about tenth. I worked my
way through the pack being absolutely covered in sand the whole time. I made it into fourth, and my bike started
to run bad. I’m not sure what happened but
it eventually quit on me. I ended up
with a DNF.
It's very uncommon for this to
happen especially to a Honda 250 2-stroke.
John Dowd bike quit also. The
sandy track was taking a toll on many other bikes out there as well.
The second moto I had to deal with
an outside gate pick. I came out of the
first turn in about tenth or so. I rode
hard to move up. I had a great battle
with JD again. We went back and forth
many times. I was finally able to pull
away at the end of the moto and eventually finished in fourth position.
I felt like I rode well the second
moto but was disappointed in the first one.
So with one to go, I'm going to work hard and to try to win round eight.
Adios,
Huffy
