Toronto, the dirt was really soft almost like sand. The
track got really rutty. I felt good
riding, but the bike set up was a little off.
It was my first time riding the in those conditions and overall my bike
was just too soft. I had a good heat
race and qualified directly to the Main.
The main event wasn't so good. I
got off to o.k. start and from there I never really got it going. I rode tight and just fought the track and
never flowed on it. I ended up in
9th. I was really hoping for a top 5
result, maybe next week
Vancouver: The dirt
in Vancouver was not any better. It was
a gray colored sand the came from the bottom of some local river I guess. It was also littered with rocks,(big
rocks). The corners were sandy, but
only some of the jumps were rutty. The
first heat was not good, I had a bad start then just rode a little tight. The semi race was good. I started in second
then got into the lead and pulled away.
I rode really strong and had good lap times. I felt I was ready for the
main event.
The main I started in about 5th. I got passed by #13 and stayed there for a few laps. I finally started riding and I made some
moves. I had the #5 bike of Mike LaRocco on my tail, so I had to start
moving. I moved all the way into 3rd,
then chased down the second place rider (Nick Wey) to get within a second of
him. I made a mistake and cased a small
triple and lost some time. At that point there was only a couple laps left. I finished in 3rd. I was pumped with a 3rd. place finish, it was a good solid
ride. I would like to thank my trainer
Alwyn Cosgrove, my mechanic John and the Team ECC.com Honda guys for their
support.
See ya at Anaheim,
Damon Huffman
